Pumpin'

Lets see here. I liked this song, it just had that nice mood to cheer me up after my 3 times a week torture sessions (football practice). Lets look at the scores.

Smoothness: 1/2
Drums: 2/2
Bass: 1/2
Melody: 2/2
Catchiness: 2/2
Mood: 2/2
Effort: 2/2
Loop: 2/2
Listen-ability: 2/2
Instrument use: 1/2
17/20 which figures out to 9/10

Suggestions: I didnt like the instrument use here. The melody instrument was a bit too hard trance-like to me. It sounded kind of annoying, you could have used something smoother. There wasnt enough bass, it didnt stand out enough to be bass. Use a more mellow sample and blast it like any kind of techno would. The melody here was kind of repetitive, but it was too catchy to deduct any points.

What I liked: The fact that this song loops just really makes it easy to listen to. I liked the beat on this, I cant stop bobbing my head to it. The song just has excellent listenability to it, and has a great cheerful mood to it.

Last word: I dont use this comment space to give never ending praise to your awesome music, because theres always room for improvement. Keep working, man!

JohnnyFrizz responds:

Thanks a lot my good friend, I really appreciate you took your time to write this great in detail review!

I shall respond to some of the pointers you mention:

"The melody instrument was a bit too hard trance-like to me." Well I think everyone has different tastes in music and different opinions on how it should be made, I actually intended to give that powerful feeling to the lead, but well, some ppl will like it and some ppl wont :)

"There wasnt enough bass" Im not sure man, I didnt wanted the bass to overwhelm everything... Honestly, from my point of view, I think the bass volume is just fine as it is, not too pumpy, but not too smooth.

"The melody here was kind of repetitive" Well, yeah, I have to admit it is, kinda repetitive, but the good thing about well thought of melodies, is that they can be repeated a lot without getting the listener tired of them ( ;

Thanks again for the awesome review, have a nice week!

Good work

This wasnt as upbeat as the original, and I think the bass was not playing the best notes to complement the melody. It was kind of messy, but still, not bad.

You've gotten enough praise already, you know what you're doing right.

Hope this helps for future remixes.

giftedbuttwisted responds:

Oh hell yeah it helps thanks =D

Not bad

Missing some key elements.

-Bass was in between. When you make bass for DnB, it has to either be really heavy or really light. I'm not saying volume, but it wasnt that bad anyway.

-Drums needed work. They were too light for a DnB song. DnB is drum and bass, which you didnt provide enough of. The drums needed to be heavy and blasting.

-Melody was very repetitive and annoying. That needed to be cleaned up. Use a different synth. But still, since it's a DnB track, the melody is not as important. It still is vital, but it has to be catchy and fit with the bass.

Hope I helped, you have potential in this business.

Sytze responds:

Thanks for explanation on which points I should improve my upcoming songs, but remember I made this with headphones and never heard it trhough proper speakers so the equalisation might not be right

Meh

Calm and peaceful, but needs some depth. You should have taken more time on this.

JoSilver responds:

too bad i only have a demo of FL Studios.... =(

AMAZING!!!

In comparison to your other work, 1000% better. This is epic. That new sound library is working for you. HOLY CRAP.

Your other work I remember being crappy. Sorry.

Bas3008 responds:

Thanks for the review and yea, the new library is great, I'm working on a few more songs, I think I'll upload them soon ...

Great Song

Well, you have definetely created a lullaby worth sleeping to. To rate this fairly:
Melody: 2/2
Mood:2/2
Voice: 2/2
Listen-ability: 1/2
Quality: 2/2

There are just two problems with this song. One is that the pausing of the voice caused the entire song to stop. That made it a bit choppy. But your voice is really great for this. Also, the second thing I recommend would be a soft ambient background playing to this. That would make it a perfect ten. Other than that, It really makes me sleepy and...
....
zzzz

VGSongbird responds:

Thank you for your feedback! I really appreciate the opinions people give me to better my music ^_^

Great Song

I'm downloading this...
Good theme for one of my characters.

Anyway, I'm sure that you can do better than this though, looking forward to seeing later work of yours.

It's like Dark Hip hop. I like what you did with the pianos too.

Anyway, I gotta go.

Druids-Warcry responds:

hey man thanks for the review, im glad this little tune and be used for the theme of one of your Characters!

yeah this one is not too good i made it a while ago i feel i have impreved sense then but its still good to post up the old tracks

Let's see here

Beat: 5/5
Melody: 4/5
Mood: 5/5
Use of Instruments: 5/5
Listening: 3/5
I dont know, it just didnt have the great listenabiity that your other songs have. I honestly think that you should stick with your original work and not worry about video game remixes

zirconmusic responds:

Thanks for the comments. However, I starting producing music because of video game remixes and I've made dozens to date and directed the most successful VG remix project ever, Voices of the Lifestream (ff7.ocremix.org) - so I don't think I'll quit that anytime soon :)

Its ok

It is a bit too heavy- there are too many loud tracks at the same. But the idea and sound werent half bad. It sounded like a lot of work was put into this.

BTW, I LOLed at your response to Edukie's review. Remind me never to piss you off.

thecokebitch responds:

yeah - this track was quite a noob attempt for me... I may revisit this at some point... but the way my production is going at the moment, if i revisit it now - it will turn out weird, and ng people probly wouldnt like it.

churr for the feedback tho

Very Nes-like

This really sounded like a Nes song. The only problem I have with this is that it sounds even more simplified than an actual Nes system would offer. I like the sound effects in it, which improves the score a bit. You need to make a song with more tracks and music.

DrummerExtro responds:

The NES only used 3 - 5 monophonic sound channels. But i see where you are getting at. Thanks for the critique man.
